Slow Stitch

Slow stitch is a new form of meditation. The idea is to not think too hard, just find your rhythm and get in the zone. My Art Group challenge this month was to use the inspiration of an artist by the name of Pauline Burbidge from Scotland. I chose to emulate her stitch drawings of nature. My new plant I just picked up for Easter was the perfect subject. I am enjoying the process very much, mostly because it’s very freeing and not at all precise. I love loose work and this fits my esthetic just fine.

Runaway Train

Last couple of years I felt my life was like a Speeding train – a little out of control. I decided I was the metaphorical conductor and could decide the speed of my train. I love iconic lighthouses. There are millions of great photos of Nauset Lighthouse in Eastham – how can I put my own spin on it? A little digital art magic, it suddenly becomes mysterious and foreboding.

Choices, Choices

Ideas pop into my head without warning. Inspiration comes from the smallest detail. Can I try to colorize my photography? My fiber Art?

Do I have to take action on every idea I have? No, I don’t. I can just appreciate my thought process. Period. Ahh… feel more relaxed already

Swirling Spring Refections

Today was a lovely day to get outside with my camera and experiment with shooting water. Spring was never my favorite season but this year, I am enjoying the emerging colors of spring in a completely new way.

Ukrainian Easter Eggs

This year my Ukrainian Easter Eggs that my nephew Gregory gave me from his world travels take on a new meaning. Each time I pass them on my way through the dining room I try to say a silent prayer for the victims, families, and relatives in Ukraine. God knows how long or how much more suffering will ensue but I have always had faith that my one little prayer will somehow reach one other person who needs it to face their trials. I hope my prayer lands on someone who needs it today.
